Pro Line Archers clean up at NYS Archery Association Championships

The New York State Archery Championships were held on July 19 – 20 at the Chemung County Rod and Gun Club in BreesPort NY. 14 archers affiliated with Pro Line Archery attended the annual event with amazing results. Archers shoot 144 arrows spanning 4 distances the longest being 90 meters to determine the champion in each age category.

In the Recurve Male Bowmen division (ages 10-12) – Dylan McMenamy finish in first place with an impressive score of 1217 points. This was Dylan’s first appearance the NYSAA Outdoor Championships.

In the Recurve Female Junior division (ages 17-18) – Rachel Cronmeyer finished in first place with Laura Guggenheim finishing in second place. This was close contest as both archers’ switched positions many times throughout the two days of competition.

In the Compound Male Cub division (ages 12-14) – Steven Cronmeyer finished in first place.

In the Recurve Male Cadet division (ages 15-16) – Benjamin Chu finished in first place. Benjamin Chu was last year’s Champion in the Cub Division. Benjamin led the event the entire time breaking the 70 and 30 meter records along the way.

In the Compound Masters 70+ age division – Ed Gerig finished in first place.

In the Recurve Masters 50+ age division – David Ontell finished in first place with Peter Cronmeyer finishing in 2nd respectably.

In the Compound Senior division – Paul Santoro finished 3rd place. This was Paul’s first appearance at the NYSAA championships.

In the Recurve Senior Female Division – Tung Ying Chu finished in second place. In 2007 Tung Ying also finished in second placed but she improved this year with an impressive score of 1100 besting her previous performance by 63 points.

In the Recurve Senior Male Divison – Joseph McGlyn finished in first place with Guy Gerig finishing 2nd Franklin Perez ?? and Randel “PeeWee” Turner ??. Joseph McGlyn was the 2007 champion and lead the event from the opening. Joseph had an impressive record breaking event thanks to the fair weather over the weekend. He tied his existing record at the 70 meter distance with 327 points broke the long standing 50 meter distance record of 332 points held by Jerry Pylypchuck since 1984 with 334 points and bested his overall record of 1292 finishing the event with a total of 1297 points.

Many of these archers will be competing in the Empire State Games representing their perspective regions from July 24-28 in Binghamton NY.
